Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of HashStamp, operated by ZKNOT, INC. ("ZKNOT," "we," "us"). By using HashStamp or purchasing Founding Supporter Status, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use HashStamp.

1. What HashStamp is

HashStamp lets you create a signed, independently verifiable record that a specific file existed at a stated time. Your browser computes a SHA-256 fingerprint (a "hash") of your file on your own device. Only that fingerprint — and any optional public label you choose to add — is sent to us. The file itself never leaves your device and is never uploaded to, seen by, or stored by us.

We sign that fingerprint with the HashStamp service key, record it at a position in a tamper-evident, hash-linked chain at the time we receive it, and give you a link anyone can use to verify the record without an account.

2. What a HashStamp record proves — and does not prove

A HashStamp record shows: that a file with the recorded SHA-256 fingerprint existed and was submitted to HashStamp at the stated time, that the fingerprint was signed by the HashStamp service key, and that the record is linked into a tamper-evident chain so a later change to the file breaks the match.

A HashStamp record does NOT prove, and you agree not to represent that it proves:

who created, owns, authored, sent, or uploaded the file;
that any person received, opened, approved, or agreed to the file;
that a contract was formed or accepted;
the truth, accuracy, or legality of the file's contents;
notarization, or that the record is a notarial act;
legal admissibility, evidentiary weight, or acceptance by any court, agency, employer, client, or counterparty; or
an independently sourced time. The time in a HashStamp record is provided by the HashStamp service — it is not anchored to an external time authority. It is tamper-evident, not tamper-proof.

3. Who may use HashStamp

HashStamp is currently offered to customers in the United States only. You represent that you are in the United States, are at least 18 years old, and can form a binding contract. Payment-card transactions are screened and non-US cards are declined. We may refuse or reverse service to anyone outside the United States.

4. Your responsibilities

You agree that:

you have the right to process and to stamp the file you select;
you will use HashStamp lawfully and will not stamp or label content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or that violates another person's rights;
any text you enter in a public label is accurate, is not confidential, and does not contain personal information or anything you are not free to publish (see Section 7);
you will not use HashStamp for fraud, false claims, impersonation, or to misrepresent what a record proves;
you will not abuse, overload, probe, or attempt to circumvent the service, its rate limits, or its verification surface; and
you are responsible for independently preserving your original files and your receipts. We are not your system of record and do not store your files.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use HashStamp to stamp or label: unlawful material; malware; content that infringes intellectual-property or privacy rights; content intended to defraud, impersonate, or harass; or automated/bulk submissions that abuse the service. We may refuse service and, where we choose to, record but do not by default revoke prior records (see Refund & Cancellation Policy).

6. Founding Supporter Status — what you are buying

Founding Supporter Status is a one-time payment. It is not a subscription and does not recur. Pricing is a founding-period ladder that increases over time; the price shown at Stripe checkout is the authoritative price you pay. Current founding tiers are $49, then $59, $69, and $79, rising to $99 on 2027-01-26; tiers advance as seats are taken.

Founding Supporter Status is a way to support HashStamp's development early and be recognized as a founding supporter. Stamping and verification are currently available to everyone at no charge; your purchase does not unlock a separately gated paid tier, because no such gating exists today. We make no promise of a locked or grandfathered future price, lifetime access, future features, or priority support unless and until we publish a specific policy saying so. What you receive today is: recognition as a founding supporter and an emailed receipt with an order reference.

7. Records and public verification

HashStamp records are publicly verifiable by anyone with the link or short code, without an account. A verification page and the public API expose: the file's SHA-256 fingerprint, the timestamp, the service signature and public key, the chain position and linkage, and any public label you entered.

Do not place confidential, personal, or sensitive information in a public label.

Two different things are published, and they behave differently:

The committed record — the file's SHA-256 fingerprint, the HashStamp-assigned timestamp, and the chain linkage — is cryptographically committed to a tamper-evident, hash-linked chain. These fields are permanent: they cannot be edited or deleted, because altering them would defeat the verification the record exists to provide.
The public label is separate public display metadata. It is published alongside the record and is intended to persist, but it is not covered by the record's cryptographic commitment. We may, at our discretion, stop displaying, suppress, or redact a label — for legal compliance, safety, abuse prevention, privacy, intellectual-property complaints, court orders, or operational reasons. We do not promise an unconditional right to have a label removed on request. Suppressing a label does not erase or alter the committed fingerprint or timestamp.

Treat any label you enter as public and lasting unless and until we say otherwise. If you leave the label blank, no label is published.

Test and demonstration records. ZKNOT may create clearly marked test or demonstration records on separate, labeled chains. These self-identify as test records (for example, a device or label containing "TEST-RECORD") and carry no customer meaning.

8. Availability, warranties, and liability

HashStamp is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we do not guarantee that any court, agency, client, employer, or counterparty will accept a HashStamp record or give it any particular evidentiary weight.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ZKNOT disclaims all implied warranties and limits its total liability to you for any claim relating to HashStamp to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or, if you paid nothing, to USD $50). Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer right that cannot be waived under applicable law.

9. Changes, governing law, contact

We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
